The Locuson’s take the 270 feature …. Many new competitors showed up to race at Middleford Speedway on Friday. The 270’s found Chris Locuson and Andrew Locuson at the top of the list of first-timers racing this year at the track. Veteran racer Charles Cobourn found himself with the pole position for the feature with another veteran racer, Ken Lester, alongside. Cobourn grabbed the lead at the race beginning while the crowd shuffled around behind him. Andrew Locuson made a fast dash from his 4th starting spot to the 2nd position while Chris Locuson moved from 5th to 3rd. Past winner Justin Jones fought mechanical issues that would cause a caution and eventually end his evening. JT Knight, also a frequent winner, continued to battle his car problems as he started the race strong, racing towards the front, but his car would give out putting him to the infield. The two Locuson cars pulled away from the rest of the field as Chris made a pass and took the lead from Andrew. Both cars made impressive moves as they smoothly maneuvered through lapped traffic. Andrew maintained pace but was unable to reclaim the lead from Chris. Cobourn finished a strong 3rd followed by the 11 car of James Cubbage. 600 Micro Sprints, 25 Laps:
Season win # 3 for Jason Warfield… The 600’s raced a long 25 lap feature race as a good car count brought out exciting racing. Pole sitter Jason Warfield started the race strong and ended without having made any mistakes. The first lap claimed two victims as a mid-field jumble took out Bernie Korbel and Scott Baker. The restart had Warfield in front once again followed by the 65 car of Stephanie Jones. A bobble in the corner gave Jeremy Lynch a chance to grab the 2nd spot from Jones as Jon Warfield and Joey Startt battled hard for the 3rd position. The leaders worked their way through lapped traffic until a spin by Ryan Thimatariga would bring out a caution. Lynch put pressure on Warfield for the front spot but Warfield maintained control and held tightly to the lead. Further cautions with less than 5 laps to go kept the entire group close together but contact between cars would rearrange the field. Rookie Dean Seemans drove an impressive race ending in the 3rd spot in front of Jon Warfield. Sam Locuson maneuvered up through traffic from 11th to the 5th position . Rookie Chace Biron gets win # 2 …. Once again the Rookie class proved to be one of the most exciting classes of the evening as cautions and contact between cars kept everyone on the edge of their seat. Nick Nash grabbed the race lead from his starting spot on the pole while Zac Weller raced in the 2nd position. At the halfway point Biron was on the heels of Nash while in the 2nd spot, with the 4 car of Brandon Watkins close to him in 3rd. Josh Clark and Zac Weller traded positions back and forth behind them. Contact with Nash and Biron led to a caution as Nash would spin and have to go to the rear of the field. With two laps to go in the race, Biron and Watkins battled hard for the lead with side by side racing. A last lap caution lined them up with Biron in the lead. He led the field to the checkered flag for his second win of the season.
