270 Micro Sprints, 15 Laps:
Two in a row for Justin Jones …..The 270 Micro race started with Justin Jones at the end of the pack and ended with him leading the way. Pole sitter Mike Wix grabbed the race lead from the green flag, soon JT Knight and the 29 car of Ken Lester were battling close behind Wix for second. Jones worked his way through the crowd finding his way to the second spot as Knight’s car had mechanical problems similar to the prior week and came to a halt on the track. The restart had Wix edging Jones out for the lead, followed closely by Kellie Lewis , until Wix’s car also experienced a break that ended his night. Jones took over the first spot and held on to the checkered flag followed closely by Lewis and Hank Steller III. 600 Micro Sprints, 20 Laps:
Joey Startt gets his first win of the season…. It was a caution-free feature race for the 600 Micro’s. Joey Startt took full advantage of his starting pole position to grab the race lead and hold on for 20 laps. Matt Esham kept pace with Startt as the two cars pulled away from the field. Jason Warfield drove in the third position with brother Jon Warfield on his heels. Matt Smith and Kenny Vincent fought hard for the fifth spot until Vincent’s car began handling hard and Dean Seemans took his position. Startt didn’t falter ahead of Esham and did not give up ground as he took the checkered flag. Rookie Mod Lites, 15 Laps:
An exciting win for Zac Weller ….. Young Rookie Zac Weller has brought home another win in his Mod Lite. The Rookie drivers put on another exciting race as they battled hard for their 15 lap feature. Weller claimed the race lead from pole-sitter Nick Nash at the race beginning. Weller, Brandon Watkins and Chase Biron held the top three spots, keeping the racing close and tight through many cautions. The final caution with 3 laps to go collected the three cars behind them but the restart gathered the pack. Weller held on tightly to the lead and crossed the finish line followed closely by Watkins and Biron. Jr Mod Lites, 15 Laps:
Derek Magee adds to his collection of wins... The two Jr Mod Lites were once again joined by the two fastest Rookie Mod Lites of the evening. Josh Clark and Brandon Watkins, both Rookies, joined Magee and Adam Weber for the 15 lap race. Magee led from the first lap to the finish with the Rookie drivers sandwiched between him and Weber. Two cautions for spins by Weber kept the four cars racing closely. The last lap of the race brought Magee across for the checkered flag followed by Clark. Contact between Watkins and Weber cause some excitement with Watkins coming across in the third spot and Weber close behind him. Pro Mod Lites & ¾ Scale Late Models, 15 Laps:
King and Hughes bring home the combo wins….. With the weather impacted car counts, the Pro Mod Lites and ¾ Scale Late Models raced their feature races together. Tyler Hughes in his Mod Lite and Kerry King in his Late Model lined up in front of Mod Lite Shawn Weber and the Late Model of Ray Gulliver for the 15 Laps. King grabbed the lead from Hughes at the start and the two raced closely the entire time. Hughes tried to get around King using an inside groove and an outside groove but King stayed in control of his machine and did not offer the break that Hughes needed. An exciting finish as the cars were nose to tail, literally, as they passed under the flag stand to take the checkered. Ray Gulliver was the next across the finish followed by Weber. TUSA Mod-Lites, 15 Laps:
A winning week for Scott Tessman…. A wild first couple laps for the TUSA Mod Lites set the tone for the close race to come. Tessman came out in the front position; Curt Miles Jr and Tyler Hughes were driving hard to take that spot from him. Miles put pressure on Tessman but was unable to maneuver around him. The three cars raced closely for the win but Tessman held on tightly and won the battle, taking the checkered followed by Miles Jr with Hughes on his heels. James Hill, Kirk Miles and Shawn Weber rounded out the field. NAPA Chargers:
X marks the spot as Jeff Carey gets the win… The NAPA Chargers were off to a roaring start as Charles Brittingham and Wayne White Jr led the way from the front row. Jeff Carey moved from his fourth starting spot alongside Derek Swafford to take the third position behind White. Contact between the two cars sent White sideways, losing many positions before regaining control. Carey worked his way around Brittingham as Chris Higgins drove in the third spot. Frequent winner Kyle Tubbs worked his way up through the field to the 4th position until, with 4 laps to go, contact with a barrel brought out a caution and sent him to the rear. The restart and final laps were wild ones as Brittingham got around Carey, then Carey retook the lead. Brittingham lost a position to Jay Sipple after contact with a barrel with 2 laps to go. Carey led the pack to the finish line followed by SIpple, Brittinham, Jay Worth and Tubbs.
