Feature Race Results:
The week’s Jr Mod Lite race was yet another feather in JC White’s cap. JC took home the feature race trophy, crossing the finish line ahead of Tyler Aichinger and Caleb Sturgis.
Next on the agenda for the evening; the STARS East Open Mod Lite race. The competition was tough but did not prevent Steve White from taking home a new STARS big payout and trophy. White started the feature race on the pole alongside Richie Wilson, both being heat race winners. Wilson held on to the lead with White on his heels until mechanical problems cause Wilson to leave the race. White took over the front spot for the restart but got tangled in a spin and had to restart at the back of the field. Tim White was poised to be the new race leader but by the halfway point, Steve White had worked his way back through the field and reclaimed the first position. Steve worked his car the rest of the race, not giving up the lead position, as Tim cruised in second. Scott Tessman held on to the third place as Brandon Sturgis and Zac Weller made the top five.
Jason Warfield added another win to his season as the 600 Micros feature race wound up. Recently dominating the class with 4 wins in the last 5 feature races, Warfield had his work cut out for him with a start in the 6th spot in the tough field of racers. Brad Hughes led the race from his start in the front while Warfield came to second, eventually making his move and taking over the front position before the halfway point of the race. Hughes held on to the second spot as Stephanie Jones made an impressive run from 10th place, a last place start, to take home a third place finish. David Peterson, Jeff Coffey and Tony Rose followed through as the finishing cars.
Victory lane is no stranger to Tyler White, and he took his Super Truck there once again this week. White battled hard with Guy Mitchell throughout the feature race, the two working through lapped traffic with Mitchell right on White’s heels until a tire problem ended the race for Mitchell. White restarted in front of heat winner Matt Long but did not give an inch to him as he guided the field to the checkered flag. John Wingrove, Brandon Gladish and Billy Lockwood completed the field of finishers.
Kyle Tubbs returned to the track and also returned to victory lane. In a feature race plagued with cautions, Tubbs did not give up his spot in the lead. As is typical of the Chargers, the racing was close and the action fast. The fans were treated to three wide racing and to Woodchuck’s smoking car imitation of the Dismal Swamp fire. Kevin Taylor moved from a mid pack start to grab the second spot behind Tubbs with Hunter Whorten moving from ninth to take a third place finish. Jay Sipple ran from eighth and landed in the fourth position, the last of the finishers for the evening.
